Install in three moves

1 · Open and drag. Open the downloaded DMG and drag the cat into the Applications folder sitting right next to it.

2 · The first open (one time only). NapCat isn’t notarized by Apple yet — it’s a tiny independent app — so macOS shows a caution on first launch. The route depends on your macOS:

• macOS 15 Sequoia and newer: double-click NapCat once and dismiss the warning. Then open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section, and click “Open Anyway” next to the NapCat message. Confirm once — done forever.
• macOS 13–14: right-click (or Control-click) NapCat.app → Open → Open in the dialog. Once is enough.

3 · Meet the cat. NapCat lives in the menu bar (no Dock icon). The full-screen tour starts on first launch; ⌥⌘N naps, ⌥⌘A opens the agents panel.

Verify the download (optional, recommended)

Paste this in Terminal and compare — it must match exactly:

Updates take care of themselves

NapCat checks this site for signed updates (Sparkle) and installs them in place — the Gatekeeper step above never repeats. You can also check manually from the menu-bar cat → Check for Updates…

Why the warning exists

Apple’s notarization requires a $99/year developer membership; NapCat is five dollars, from one independent developer. The app is exactly what’s on this page: local, quiet, 0 telemetry — and every update is cryptographically signed against the key baked into your copy. Notarization is on the roadmap; the checksum above is the honest bridge until then.
