NapCat reads your Mac’s running processes locally, read-only, and lays each Claude Code session out as a live row in the notch. Editing, running tests, or waiting on you: the status is right there, so you never alt-tab through terminals to find the one that stopped.

Approve permissions without switching windows

When Claude Code asks to run a command or touch a file, the prompt appears in the notch with Allow and Deny buttons. You answer in place. It uses a single hook in your Claude Code settings that you can remove whenever you want. See the walkthrough in approve Claude Code from the menu bar.

Track your Claude usage

NapCat borrows Claude Code’s own login (with a Keychain prompt the first time) and fills your 5-hour and 7-day usage windows right in the notch, so you know how much you have left before you start a big run. One toggle turns it off, and it is the only thing NapCat ever sends over the network.

Jump to the exact tab, keep the Mac awake

Common questions

Does it work on Macs without a notch? Yes. NapCat can draw a mock notch and the island works the same.

Is my code sent anywhere? No. NapCat only reads your process list locally; the sole network call is the optional usage meter, on your own login.
